CONCEPT
Il titolo è legato al momento della giornata in cui il Sole tramonta, per lasciare spazio alla notte ed alla Luna; è un momento particolare, di transizione, e se vogliamo di armonia degli opposti, dove il guerriero riflette interiormente sul suo essere. Arricchiscono il messaggio varie simbologie. È possibile identificare sulla gamba la runa Laguz: questa runa simboleggia l’acqua che scorre portatrice di forza vitale rigenerante; essa è collegata ai cambiamenti di energia e alla crescita maturata attraverso le proprie esperienze; ha il compito di aiutarci a comprendere la ciclicità delle cose e dare nuovo impulso alla rinascita per l’inizio di una nuova fase di vita.
A questa si aggiunge la runa Reid, che rappresenta il movimento e la forza di una persona nelle decisioni da prendere; un viaggio da intraprendere alla ricerca dei valori di ognuno e conseguentemente alla ricerca di sé. Incisi qua e là, troviamo: l’occhio, simbolo di conoscenza, luce e verità; il Sole, associato all’energia ed alla vitalità; il simbolo Yin e Yang, rappresentazione grafica dell’equilibrio tra gli opposti che compongono la vita.
La stella è un simbolo di eternità, di luce, di alte aspirazioni ed ideali; la Luna calante ci invita ad abbandonare ciò che è vecchio e ormai logoro, infondendoci nuova energia. Sono presenti anche alcuni numeri: il 7, associato alla spiritualità, all’intuizione, alla capacità di conciliare magia e realtà; l’8 simboleggia l’Infinito, la perfezione, la vittoria ma anche individui che devono imparare a usare l’abbondanza e il potere a scopi non egoistici, perseguendo l’equilibrio interiore per evitare di essere vittime dei loro estremi emotivi.
Il numero 13 indica la rottura dell’armonia, incarnando il disordine. Infatti, è il numero che con l’aggiunta di una unità al 12, interrompe la ciclicità, obbligando alla trasformazione radicale. Oltre a queste iconografie, la pelle è incisa con i tatuaggi Maori: caratterizzato dalla tradizione, il tattoo viene utilizzato come rito di passaggio dall'essere un bambino al diventare un adulto.
La particolarità è che questo simbolo rappresenta tutti gli avvenimenti principali che accadono nella vita di un uomo, lo scopo è quello di tatuare un'esperienza importante e significativa della vita. Particolari soprattutto le incisioni simili ad ali sulla schiena: sono un simbolo di movimento, di volo e di pensiero, di immaginazione, di spiritualità, oltre che associate alla libertà. Il concetto che Rabarama ha voluto esprimere, anche nella posa della scultura, è la riflessione del guerriero.
Giunto al tramonto, l’uomo si ferma a riflettere su se stesso e sulla sua vita, focalizzandosi su tutto ciò che lo rende uomo, rapportato allo spirito. Il guerriero è lontano e svincolato da tutto ciò che puramente materiale, ricerca la pienezza nella sua esistenza, vivendo al massimo ogni giorno. La meditazione al tramonto diviene il punto più alto di tutta la riflessione, momento in cui l’uomo prende coscienza del suo essere, ovvero una particella infinitesimale di energia che tende al ricongiungimento con il tutto cosmico.
The title is linked to the time of day when the Sun sets, to make room for the night and the Moon; it is a particular moment, of transition, and if we want of harmony of opposites, where the warrior reflects inwardly on his being. Various symbologies enrich the message. It is possible to identify the Laguz rune on the leg: this rune symbolizes the flowing water, bearer of regenerating life force; it is related to changes in energy and growth gained through one's experiences; has the task of helping us understand the cyclical nature of things and give new impetus to rebirth for the beginning of a new phase of life. To this is added the Reid rune, which represents the movement and strength of a person in the decisions to be made; a journey to be undertaken in search of everyone's values ​​and consequently in search of oneself.
Engraved here and there, we find: the eye, a symbol of knowledge, light and truth; the Sun, associated with energy and vitality; the Yin and Yang symbol, a graphic representation of the balance between the opposites that make up life. The star is a symbol of eternity, of light, of high aspirations and ideals; the waning Moon invites us to abandon what is old and worn out, infusing us with new energy.
There are also some numbers: 7, associated with spirituality, intuition, the ability to reconcile magic and reality; the 8 symbolizes Infinity, perfection, victory but also individuals who must learn to use abundance and power for non-selfish purposes, pursuing inner balance to avoid being victims of their emotional extremes. The number 13 indicates the breaking of harmony, embodying disorder. In fact, it is the number that, with the addition of one unit to 12, interrupts the cyclical nature, forcing a radical transformation.
In addition to these iconographies, the skin is engraved with Maori tattoos: characterized by tradition, the tattoo is used as a rite of passage from being a child to becoming an adult. The peculiarity is that this symbol represents all the main events that happen in a man's life, the purpose is to tattoo an important and meaningful experience of life. Particularly particular are the wing-like incisions on the back: they are a symbol of movement, flight and thought, imagination, spirituality, as well as associated with freedom. The concept that Rabarama wanted to express, also in the pose of the sculpture, is the reflection of the warrior.
At sunset, man stops to reflect on himself and his life, focusing on everything that makes him a man, in relation to the spirit. The warrior is distant and free from all that is purely material, he seeks fullness in his existence, living to the fullest every day. Meditation at sunset becomes the highest point of all reflection, the moment in which man becomes aware of his being, that is an infinitesimal particle of energy that tends to rejoin the cosmic whole.
